Speedo reading
« on: August 22, 2009, 10:05:30 AM »

Well, the new XY has been running fine for a couple of weeks now.  The only problem I have -- and it's not an insignificant one -- is that the speedo underreads massively, in fact by almost 50%.  Yet the odomoeter -- which is driven by the same cable -- seems to be fine.  I'm confused -- I really can't think of anything that could be causing this, short of a fundamentally knackered speedo.

Anyone else had this problem?

I have had the same problem which has today turned into the speedo stopping altogether, i have tested the speedo and cable by putting a drill on the end of the cable and its all OK. Will have to look at the drive unit on the wheel and will update you

I have  stripped down the speedo drive unit and found that the tabs that drive the unit off the front wheel were bent back, i have straightened them out and the speedo works again and looks to be reporting accurately. Hope this helps.
